Keep Families Together and Safe

The reports of children in detention facilities — and the conditions they are being held in — are devastating. We know that there are instances of small children and toddlers failing to receive the medical care they need, being forced to sleep on concrete floors and doused with pepper spray, lacking access to hygiene products or diapers, and going weeks without bathing or access to clean clothes.

We are called not to turn away in horror, but to bear witness to this suffering. We must pray — for children, for parents, for U.S. leaders.

And as we weep with these children who weep, we also are called to “defend the rights of the poor and needy,” (Prov 31:9). What can we do?

Call your Member of Congress and ask that, except in cases where there is a threat to public safety, families should remain together as they wait for their asylum hearings.

My name is {YOUR NAME}. I am your constituent from {CITY, STATE} and ask that you address the highly concerning issue of the treatment of vulnerable families and children at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The reports of children in detention facilities — and the conditions they are being held in — are devastating. There are constant reports of mistreatment and neglect at the hands of small children, and we cannot allow vulnerable migrants to suffer or die in these facilities.

I believe that, except in cases where there is a threat to public safety, families should remain together as they wait for their asylum hearings.

Thank you for your work and I look forward to your timely action regarding this crisis.
