Lawsuit abuse is detrimental to U.S. consumers and the economy

To showcase how damaging lawsuit abuse and excessive tort costs are to our economy and American consumers, Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) tapped John Dunham & Associates (JDA) to compile a report on the impact of tort costs and economic benefits of tort reform across all 50 states. Among other findings, the report found that lawsuit abuse costs Americans:

  • A “tort tax” of $488 per person
  • 2 million jobs
  • $143.8 million in wages

While we can’t say we’re surprised by these findings, the results make it clear that America is in desperate need of tort reform – now more than ever. Join CALA in our fight to bring fairness back to our legal system.
