Share Your Comments on Proposed Toll Road

Public comment at last week’s Toll Road webinars was in overwhelming opposition to the planning of 330 miles of proposed toll road construction through some of the most valuable conservation land left in Florida.

Comments ranged from concerns over water supplies, water quality, wildlife, and unnecessary costs for benefits that don’t need to create detrimental sprawl to provide services to rural communities. Nothing presented established the need for these toll roads and the overwhelming multi-billion-dollar costs associated to build them while existing roads and infrastructure need attention and funding. Projected costs and the state's economic impacts from the COVID-19 Pandemic raise questions about the road's financial feasibility and the unsubstantiated public benefits.

This process is an example of special interest-driven politics rather than responsible evaluation and planning. If you are equally concerned we encourage you to contact your state leaders to express your opposition to these new toll roads. Please voice your opposition and demand that the “no-build” option be analyzed and strongly considered during this Task Force process.
