Urge Congress to Include IDR in Surprise Billing Legislation!

Contact the members of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Today!  Urge them to include a fair minimum benefit standard in addition to Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) in the No More Surprises: Protecting Patients from Surprise Medical Bills Act. The first mark-up of the No More Surprises Act was yesterday, July 10, but it didn’t include IDR.

  • This bill, sponsored by Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR), needs to include IDR.
  • If IDR is not included in this legislation it would threaten to cause reimbursement to fall significantly.
  • Last week, U.S. Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-CA), an emergency physician who is a member of the committee, introduced HR 3502 - Protecting People From Surprise Medical Bills Act.  This bill would ban balance billing for unanticipated out-of-network care, require payment at a "commercially reasonable rate," and establish IDR - including private settlement and  "baseball" arbitration - when there are payment disputes.

You can make a difference!  Contact the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Members Today! Ask them to amend surprise billing legislation to include IDR!
