The Energy Jobs for Our Heroes Act of 2018 was recently introduced by U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Michael Bennet (D-CO). This bipartisan bill helps Veterans gain the training necessary to join the emerging clean energy industry after serving their country.
The wind industry proudly employs veterans at a rate 72% higher than the national average. Passing this legislation would help even more of our nation's heroes enter one of the fastest growing workforces in the country.
When she introduced the bill, Senator Tammy Duckworth stated, "Our bill will provide servicemembers and Veterans with the training they need to work in some of our nation’s fastest-growing industries, while also helping clean energy companies – which already employ Veterans at high rates across the country – find highly-skilled and dedicated workers as they experience exponential growth and provide more of our nation’s energy supply.”
Senator Lindsey Graham, the bill's Republican co-sponsor, deemed the bill a win-win: "I’m very excited to be a part of this effort to do two great things for our country: help veterans find jobs and boost the clean energy economy."
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) endorsed the bill last week.
Please take a moment to encourage your Senators to support the Energy Jobs for our Heroes Act of 2018.
