Our streets do more than connect us to work, soccer practice, or the grocery store: our streets connect neighbors and families. Growing up, most of us had a best friend who lived “just down the street”.
Our streets should be safe for people of all ages and abilities to walk to a new friend’s house, bike to public transit, or roll to the store. Our streets should be Complete Streets that benefit everyone in the community.
Passing the Complete Streets Act of 2019 would be an important step in shifting spending on our roads towards the safety of all users and signaling that the status quo is unacceptable. For decades, as we continue to hear stories about people killed or seriously injured while biking or walking, the League has demanded federal policymakers and Congress show leadership on Complete Streets. This bill presents an opportunity for lawmakers to take a stand with us.
Join the League, Transportation for America, and the National Complete Streets Coalition in asking Congress to support the Complete Streets Act of 2019 and ensuring our streets are designed to be safe and accessible to everyone.
