Urge Senators to Include Arbitration in Surprise Billing Legislation (S 1895)
On Wednesday, June 26, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP Committee) will consider the Lower Health Costs Act.
- This legislation would ban balance billing for out-of-network emergency care and require plans to reimburse those providers at the plan’s in-network rate.
- We urge you to EMAIL or CALL members of the HELP Committee, before 10:30 am EST on June 26th and urge them to oppose Title 1 of the Lower Health Costs Act (Title 1 is the section addressing surprise billing) unless they add provisions that allow for arbitration.
If any of the senators on the Senate HELP Committee represent a state in which you live or work, please contact those senators. Otherwise, please start by contacting Senator Alexander’s and Senator Murray’s offices.
