The Trump administration is taking unprecedented action to shrink and reduce protections on public lands. The president has reportedly already approved recommended changes at Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah. Others are likely to follow: Katahdin Woods & Waters in Maine, Cascade Siskiyou in Oregon, Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks and Rio Grande del Norte in New Mexico and Gold Butte in Nevada. We need to re-double our efforts and make sure our lawmakers feel empowered to stand up to Trump.
