As the second half of the Legislative Session approaches, we are watching closely to see what bills are introduced in the South Carolina legislature. In the first half of the Legislative Session, Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter introduced a bill to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The ERA would affirm that the United States Constitution does not allow discrimination based on sex. If ratified, SC would become the 38th and final state necessary to send this constitutional amendment to the United States Congress.
Senator Tom Davis joined Representative Cobb-Hunter in the effort to ratify the ERA. Today these legislators spoke on their bipartisan intention to file joint resolutions in both the House and Senate.
Join us in thanking Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter and Sen. Tom Davis for their leadership on the ERA.
The women of South Carolina and the United States should be represented in the United States Constitution and guaranteed the protection from discrimination based on sex.
Thank you for reaching out to Rep. Cobb-Hunter and Sen. Davis.
We'll continue to keep you up-to-date on this and related bills.
