Join FRAC and thousands of national, state, and local groups in urging Members of Congress to extend the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) child nutrition waiver authority into 2023. Please weigh in with your Leadership to include the extension of the child nutrition waivers through the 2022-2023 school year in the upcoming appropriations package.
FRAC’s most recent report, The Reach of Breakfast and Lunch: A Look at Pandemic and Pre-Pandemic Participation, reveals student participation in school breakfast and lunch dropped dramatically across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. 2,000 organizations in every state are urging Congress to extend the waiver authority as schools continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic. School nutrition programs are still recovering, and the waivers are still needed to ensure no student goes hungry.
