Support Comprehensive Sex Ed in Tucson

A vote on changes to the Tucson Unified School District's curriculum that dictates how sex-ed is taught was delayed after a contentious public hearing 9/10.

Arizona law says sex ed curriculum must emphasize that abstinence is the only 100% effective method for avoiding pregnancy. The proposed TUSD curriculum features abstinence in two lessons.

Tucson Superintendent Trujillo wants to increase the focus on abstinence to six or seven lessons. He says “I am promoting a well-rounded curriculum that presents a lot of options for contraception, but I am insisting that abstinence be at the top of that list.”
