The Clean Lake 2020 Plan is a bipartisan effort passed by the Ohio Legislature aimed at providing much needed resources to combat harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie. This important legislation would provide critical funding to help farmers implement conservation practices aimed at keeping phosphorus in their fields and out of the lake.

Ohioans all want to ensure that we have access to clean water, both for drinking and for recreation. The Clean Lake 2020 Plan helps ensure this.

Dear Governor Kasich,

As a proud Ohioan, I feel strongly about the quality of our state’s water. It is essential that my family and I have safe and clean water to drink and have waterways that support our state’s abundant wildlife and provide for family recreation. To ensure that Ohioans have all of those things, please sign the Clean Lake 2020 Plan.

The bipartisan Clean Lake 2020 Plan would invest significant funds to protect Lake Erie’s water quality by reducing the loss of agricultural nutrients and combating harmful algal blooms in the Lake. The Clean Lake 2020 Plan does this by investing significantly in on-farm conservation efforts as well as wastewater treatment facility upgrades. The bill would also provide much needed funding for water quality research.

Agriculture contributes over $100 billion annually to Ohio’s economy, providing food, fuel and fiber to our local communities and beyond. The Clean Lake 2020 Plan provides critical resources to help farmers continue to operate in a sustainable manner and achieve the shared goal of clean water for all. I strongly urge you to sign it into law.
