Tell Your Assembly Member You Deserve $1.5 Billion In Nickel And Dime Bottle Deposits Back

Ask your California Assembly Member to pass SB 38, a bill that makes the beverage industry responsible for providing a convenient system for bottle returns. Right now, consumers can hardly find a redemption center open and up to two thirds of stores that are obligated to take empties back illegally turn Californians away.  Consumers pay $1.5 billion in deposits every year and get little more than half back. SB 38 fixes that problem by setting a high target for consumer returns and ensuring that the beverage industry that profits off beverages provides consumer convenience to recycle the wrappers.
