The California Assembly Judiciary Committee has finally scheduled to hear AB 247, a bill which would give small businesses and non-profits throughout the Golden State some much needed liability protections against the threat of ridiculous COVID-19-related lawsuits. Now, we need your help to encourage the Committee to reschedule AB 247 for a hearing and support its passage.
Since the onset of COVID-19, statewide regulations have changed constantly. The hardworking business owners and local non-profits who have done their best to keep up with these everchanging policies deserve protection for following the rules. Instead, trial attorneys are bringing lawsuits against them for it.
California businesses need to know they will be protected against these ridiculous COVID-19-related lawsuits as they try to reenter the economy and bring back workers. Many of these businesses are still picking up the pieces that COVID-19 left behind, and they cannot afford to defend themselves against this litigation.
It would be irresponsible for the Judiciary Committee to overlook AB 247 and the relief it would provide small businesses. Please reach out to your Assembly Member and urge them to support AB 247 and reschedule its hearing.
