Congress passed the Voting Rights Act (VRA) of 1965 to end discriminatory voting laws that denied communities of color - especially African American and Latino communities — the right to vote. But in 2013, the Supreme Court stripped a key provision from the Voting Rights Act, taking away one of the strongest tools we have to block discriminatory voting laws.
Congress must restore the VRA and stop states from implementing discriminatory voter ID and voter suppression laws. Our democracy is in jeopardy — we need LCV members like to you speak now. Tell Congress to protect our democracy and restore the Voting Rights Act!
