Demand Education Funding Reform

Rauner's Broken Promise Hurts Chicago's Students

Earlier this year, a bipartisan group of legislators, along with Governor Rauner, committed to fixing the deep education funding disparities that harm children throughout the state - including in Chicago.

However, after agreeing to be part of the solution, Governor Rauner broke that promise and cut $215 million for Chicago students.

This action is more than just reckless leadership. This cut takes us backward: discriminating against Chicago’s children by providing them with 76 cents for every dollar every other student receives  -- threatening to derail the incredible academic progress Chicago students are making.

Now, a bipartisan taskforce is recommending needed steps to reform Illinois’ education funding system – the most inequitable in the country.

Now is the time for Governor Rauner to hear your voice. His reckless decision jeopardizes Chicago's students' progress. Governor Rauner needs to hear that the CPS community deserves a fair funding system NOW.
