The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday, January 10 on President-elect Trump’s pick for the next Attorney General, Senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama.
Senator Sessions’ lack of respect for the wall of separation between church and state is clear:
- He has claimed it is “not constitutional,” “not historical,” and “a recent creation.”
- He has suggested that belief in God is a prerequisite for a federal judge to make good legal judgments, although the Constitution forbids any religious test to hold office.
- He has supported government promotion of religion—for example, by encouraging the display of Ten Commandments at government facilities.
We need your help now! Call your U.S. Senators today and ask them to weigh in with the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose Sessions' nomination as Attorney General.
