Stop nurse abuse: Take the pledge

1 in 4 nurses has been assaulted at work.

Physical and verbal abuse against nurses is a serious problem in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings across the country. The likelihood of health care workers being exposed to violence is higher than prison guards or police officers.

Disturbing and alarming incidents have put a spotlight on abuse against nurses: An emergency room nurse in Massachusetts was stabbed by a patient. Two nurses in Illinois were taken hostage, and one was beaten and raped. A nurse in Utah was pushed and wrongly arrested by a police officer. An Arkansas nurse was pushed down a flight of stairs.

We can and must do better.

Just like patient safety, nurse safety is a critical component to ensure quality and safe care. The American Nurses Association wants you to STAND WITH NURSES and pledge to:

SUPPORT zero tolerance policies for violence against nurses.

REPORT abuse against nurses whenever I safely can.

SHARE this pledge and ask my friends and family to sign.

Together, we can end nurse abuse!

Take the pledge today!

"I truly believe that what happened to me can lead to positive change in our profession. That’s why I decided to speak out: to stop this abuse from happening to others."
