The House recently passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (HR 4712/S 220). HR 4712/S 220 would require any health care practitioner present when a baby is born alive following an abortion or attempted abortion to care for the child with the same degree of care that would have been given to a baby born under different circumstances. The bill is now with the Senate's Judiciary Committee.
A pro-life ethic values all human lives through all stages of development. Programs like the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are vitally important. With some states set to run out of funding by Jan. 19, Congress agreed to fund CHIP for the next six years as part of the recent short-term spending bill.
As people of faith, we believe that each person is made in the image of God; each person has inherent dignity and value. Our belief in the sanctity of all human life calls us to be pro-life from conception to death. We rejoice that nine million children will receive health care through CHIP and pray that Congress will protect all children born alive.
Urge your Senators to vote for S 220 Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
