More Transparency Needed for Hidden Toxic Chemicals in Salon Products

Did you know that professional salon products do not need to label the ingredients on packaging? This loophole in our current law prevents salon workers and clients from knowing exactly what's in the products used to treat our hair and nails. In addition, the health risks from many of these salon products including dyes, hair relaxer, and nail polish, disproportionately impact women of color.

Consumers, manicurists, hair stylists, and other salon professionals all have the right to know what chemicals they are being exposed to everyday. California’s bill AB 2775, Professional cosmetics: labeling requirements, introduced by Assemlymember Ash Kalra, mandates transparency in products used by beauty professionals by requiring manufacturers to list ingredients on professional salon products.

Join us in asking California's lawmakers to ensure transparency and accountability in the products used by thousands of Californians everyday.
