A woman who attends a college or university is more likely to be sexually assaulted than a woman who does not. That sobering and terrifying statistic is exactly why students need the Hold Accountable and Lend Transparency on Campus Sexual Violence Act (HALT Act). The HALT Act requires schools to disclose the results of student surveys about sexual assault and to be transparent in their campus investigations. It also protects student victims, making it easier to file a private right of action against school that fail to meet campus safety requirements.
These measures can make young students on college campuses feel safer, and more comfortable reporting sexual violence to campus authorities. Tell Congress to support the HALT Act to make campuses nationwide safe for every student walking its halls.
