On Friday, February 17 the New York Times published a report claiming the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) — including AmeriCorps — is on a short list of federal programs the Administration could propose to eliminate. We must act now to ensure our voices are heard and national service is protected.

There is nothing more American than national service — no other solution capable of uniting the country, solving local problems, and empowering a generation of leaders. Consider the devastating impact on our local communities struggling with poverty, hunger, and natural disasters if the programs where 80,000 young Americans serve are eliminated. What message does that send the next generation of young people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and serve our nation?

National service is too powerful an idea to be eliminated. Call your member of Congress today and tell them to protect funding for national service and AmeriCorps.

Hello, my name is NAME and I'm a constituent from TOWN. I'd like to ask [the Senator/ the Representative] to protect funding for national service and AmeriCorps.

More than 80% of Republican and Democratic voters want to protect and increase the federal investment in national service, not eliminate it. Please protect funding for national service and reject any proposal to cut AmeriCorps or the Corporation for National and Community Service. Thank you.
