7/18/17 UPDATE: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that he lacks the Republican support needed to advance a bill to overhaul the U.S. health insurance system and will instead try hold a vote on a separate measure to repeal Obamacare with a two-year delay - meaning they will attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act without any plan to replace it. This would be harmful and destabilizing. It would also end the ACA’s Medicaid expansion and repeal other portions beginning in two years. We must keep calling on our Senators to advance a vision of health care that is accessible, affordable and equitable for ALL people!

The Senate health care bill has been released and friends, it’s bad. Not only does the Senate’s misnamed “Better Care Reconciliation Act” fail to correct the most harmful provisions of the House-passed American Health Care Act, it would make even deeper cuts to Medicaid.

We are left with a picture of the parable of the Good Samaritan in reverse: powerful decision makers passing by millions of our country’s most vulnerable people: children, senior citizens in nursing homes, people living with disabilities, working families  - and leaving them by the side of the road.

Contact your Senators now to oppose this health care plan and protect Medicaid.
