Now is the time to pass commonsense legislation that would allow federal agencies to research gun violence and firearm injury prevention.
As the voice of more than 3.6 million registered nurses across the United States, ANA has consistently asked lawmakers to take strong action against the growing trend of gun violence in America, including banning assault weapons, enhancing background check systems, enacting mandatory waiting periods, and combatting the epidemic as a public health and safety issues.
It's critical that lawmakers take the next logical step and encourage research to develop meaningful, evidence-based prevention strategies that would be essential to ending gun violence.
