Just as bicycling is taking off across Washington state, the Trump infrastructure plan and 2019 budget puts progress at risk, with:
- Threats - if not outright cuts - to popular federal funding programs, that build better places to bike, walk and take transit. These federal programs support voter-approved levies, including Sound Transit 3, Move Seattle, and in cities and counties statewide.
- Penalties to voter-approved levies passed over three years ago by not counting them as matches for future federal dollars.
Washingtonians deserve a fair deal, not a plan for infrastructure that cuts some of the most important projects and programs that build stronger, safer, and more equitable communities.
