We can stop the TPP. Will you help?

The fate of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) -- the destructive 12-nation trade agreement -- will be decided in the next few weeks.

Act now! Urge your Member of Congress to oppose the TPP.

Supporters of the TPP, including some of the world’s largest corporations, are currently working very hard to ensure passage of this agreement during the lame-duck session of Congress.

They know their only chance to get the TPP approved is to hold a vote after the election when representatives’ political accountability to constituents is at its lowest. That’s why we are pressuring Members of Congress to take a public position in opposition to the TPP before Election Day.

The TPP was largely written by corporate lobbyists and negotiated in secret. If passed by Congress, it brings the U.S. into a binding agreement that will weaken important consumer, worker, and environmental safeguards. It also gives corporations a new, shocking right to sue governments, in front of a private tribunal, over the loss of profits. For the last 20 years, our nation’s “free trade” agreements have promoted the growth in inequality that is happening here in the U.S. and around the world. The TPP is opposed by workers, people of faith, environmentalists, and consumers in all 12 countries, not just in the U.S. We must do our part to stop the TPP. Congress must block this agreement from going into force. Urge Congress today to reject the TPP.

Call your member of Congress [toll-free!] right now at 1-888-659-7351. Then use our tools to send them a letter or Tweet your concerns to them.

Here is a sample script:

  • As a person of faith, I believe that our economic system and trade policy should promote the common good, and especially help those at the margins. It should not primarily benefit corporations nor lead to greater inequality. The TPP is destructive of God’s people and God’s planet. It threatens health, jobs, food security, and the environment in all 12 TPP countries while also expanding corporate power. I urge you to oppose the TPP.

The TPP Call-In Day is a chance for We the People to speak with one loud, unified voice. Act now!
