The American Health Care Act (AHCA) will strip millions of their health insurance and put vulnerable people at risk. The bill repeals the Affordable Care Act and cuts Medicaid. Congressman MacArthur (NJ), Congressman Meadows (NC), and Vice President Pence have been working together on an amendment that would make the AHCA even more extreme and result in even more people losing healthcare coverage. The new proposal allows states to seek waivers from enforcing the ACA’s core protections for people with pre-existing conditions for almost any reason a state claims.
Healing was the central part of Jesus’ ministry. He focused on both physical and spiritual healing--just look to Lazarus and the woman at the well. As people of faith, we must continue to fight for affordable, accessible, equitable health care for all people.
