For nearly 40 years, the Hyde Amendment has banned the use of federal funds for abortions with exceptions only for rape, incest, or life endangerment. These restrictions apply to all Medicaid recipients, government workers, and Peace Corps volunteers. While Hyde continues to restrict access and affordability of abortions for so many, the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH Woman) Act, introduced in 2015, is a necessary and groundbreaking bill that would allow pregnant people to make personal healthcare decisions regardless of their income.
The EACH Woman Act ensures that we aren’t interfering with a woman’s decision about abortion based on her income, how she is insured, or where she lives.
Tell Congress that access to abortion care should not depend on your insurance provider!
