Thank your Legislators for their commitment to UW and higher ed!

UW and higher education had significant wins this session, due in large part to your advocacy efforts. Your targeted emails helped push our legislative priorities across the finish line. Thank you!

Now comes the final step: Thanking our legislators. Here are some notable achievements this session:

  • $9M for new expenses related to faculty and staff compensation, bringing UW's level of state funding closer to that of the other 5 public universities
  • Significant investment in the State Need Grant of $18.5M to serve 4,600 more students right away, with the promise of investing more money over the next 4 years to fully fund the program
  • $3M to expand access in the UW’s high-demand Computer Science & Engineering program
  • Passage of the capital budget left unpassed last year, including funding for pre-design on a new Engineering building at UW Seattle, a renovation of Parrington Hall, and completing work on the Burke Museum.

Also included in the budget were initial investments in a pre-law pipeline program at UW Tacoma, and $500,000 for a joint education center between UW Tacoma and Highline College in Federal Way.

Please take a moment to thank your legislators TODAY. A little gratitude goes a long way toward building positive relationships for future requests.
