Bike Utah is leading efforts to make bicycling safer and more convenient in Utah.
House Bill 58 was approved by the Utah House of Representatives by a vote of 58-11 and on March 1st was approved by the Senate Transportation Committee by a vote of 4-1. The bill is now heading to the full Senate - so please contact your Senator to let them know that you support the "Utah Yield."
House Bill 58 would make bicycling safer and more convenient by allowing bicyclists to treat stop signs as yield signs. This "Utah Yield" follows in the steps of Idaho and Delaware to allow bicyclists to more easily utilize low-speed, low-volume, routes that have frequent stop signs.
More generally, HB 58, the “Traffic Control Signs for Bicycles” bill revises traffic control regulations related to bicycles to help law enforcement focus more on pressing traffic hazards.
Take action today to let your Senator know that you support these changes that make bicycling safer and more convenient!
