UPDATE: Support Immigration Enforcement in North Carolina!

The General Assembly is currently considering legislation to tackle sanctuary policies and support immigration enforcement in North Carolina! Sanctuary policies prohibit or restrict law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration officials, allowing criminal aliens to live and work freely in communities. Although state law already prohibits sanctuary policies and requires many employers to use E-Verify, there are currently no penalties on the books to hold politicians and employers accountable to these laws. Senate Bill (SB) 145 and House Bill (HB) 63 address this issue and strengthen North Carolina’s immigration laws by requiring the state to withhold certain funds from localities or employers that nonetheless violate the law.
